
Dr. Lakeisha D. Lashley
GBTLA Executive Director
Dr. Lakeisha D. Lashley is a passionate and dedicated educational leader who has proudly served Montgomery County Public Schools for the past 27 years. Her career spans a wide range of roles, beginning as a special education teacher and later teaching elementary and middle school students in science and social studies. She went on to serve as an assistant principal for six years and most recently led with distinction as the principal of Fairland Elementary School for 11 years.
Dr. Lashley holds a bachelor’s degree in elementary education with special education certification from the University of Delaware. She also earned a master’s degree in administration and supervision and a doctorate in organizational leadership from Hood College. Her professional certifications from the State of Maryland include Superintendent I-II, Administrator I-II, Special Education K-8, and Advanced Professional 1-8. She is also a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated.
Now, as the new Executive Director of the George B. Thomas Learning Academy, Dr. Lashley is energized and honored to lead this vital work to new heights. She brings her unwavering commitment to academic excellence, her love for children, and her belief in the power of education to transform lives. With a focus on equity, community partnership, and innovative learning opportunities, she is excited to build on the Academy’s legacy and inspire the next generation of scholars.
A native of Wilmington, Delaware, Dr. Lashley resides with her family in Silver Spring, Maryland.
