The George B. Thomas Learning Academy held its 31st Annual Golf Tournament, on Monday, May 11, 2026, at the renowned Blue Mash Golf Course in Laytonsville, Maryland. Shotgun Start began at 10:00 AM. This year’s tournament celebrated the theme “40 Years Strong: Driving Learning, Shaping Futures,” honoring four decades of impact inspired by the belief of its founder, Dr. George B. Thomas: “I Believe in Me.”
Participants joined in a day of community, fun, and fundraising to further empower young learners through the Academy’s programs. There was an aire of friendly competition on the beautifully maintained 18-hole championship course, along with contests and opportunities to connect with fellow participants.
As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, contributions are fully tax-deductible. Funds raised at the tournament will directly support the Academy’s signature program, Saturday School;
• Learning materials and supplies for an entire classroom
• Scholarships for students in need to attend Saturday School, the “6th Day of Learning”
• Program operations and instructor training to ensure high-quality education
This special day brought the community together and we are reflecting on our mission to help students see their potential and future success. This tournament is more than golf—it’s an opportunity to celebrate 40 years of learning and to help shape the futures of our students through our signature Saturday School program. The golf tournament is part of the Academy’s broader 40th anniversary celebration, which will continue throughout 2026. Community members will also have a future opportunity to support the Academy’s work at the 40th Anniversary Gala, scheduled for Fall 2026, with more details to be announced.
